This was my last Christmas in Peru and was lucky enough once again to provide a great Christmas event for the kids at Remar. The 3rd Christmas in their own place in Cachimayo. What an honour and a blessing! Thanks again to all the volunteers and donors who made this possible!

What an honour to be able to do this again! And another great group of volunteers! Thanks Ingrid, Yuli, Karuna, Marta, Lizzy, Xu, Eti, Heike, Alicia and Papa Noel! This year they have their own property and needed practical things, so thats what we provided! Gardening tools and seeds, hygiene items and of course, some toys! We all got to have fun! We supplied board games, hoola hoops, skipping ropes, basket ball, football soccer and volley balls and more for the kids! I had the privilege of offering Reiki and Reflexology at this therapy centre in Urubamba a few times in 2015. Kiya Survivors has created a school, a home and this therapy centre for disabled kids. Mel and I went there after her Reiki 2 training and we offered Reiki and she donated her wheelchair and walker to the centre! My friends are golden! Oh and what an epic time it was! We ALL had so much fun! What a great team of volunteers too! Jaya did kids yoga with most the kids, (and we got to be kids too!) Angela captivated the teenage girls with her gentle charms! Alex Z set a wonderful example for the teenage boys, Ana kept the shy Rocio busy all day and the rest of us, well we just played! They loved the macrame string - Jaya and Angela showed them how to make pendant holders for their crystals! And the Crystals! The kids loved their clear quartz crystal! They looked for and found the rainbows inside, Prakash and Vento (Papa Noel!) showed them how to use them as pendulums and the older girls made jewellery with them! What an incredible day! Thanks to all the donors, who make it all possible! Incredible GRATITUDE!!!!!! I can't even begin to tell you all the incredible synchronicities that brought me to this place but WOW! I am housesitting and pet sitting for Rosemary while she is off visiting family. But it's not just any house! It's an animal shelter! I have 8 dogs, 44 cats and 2 tortoises to care for and I AM IN HEAVEN! My primary job is to be here for them 24/7 and to make sure they get enough attention! Seriously! This couldn't be more perfect for me! Just as perfect as how I found this sweet gig and how Rosemary found me! She posted the position the very day I looked it up! I wanted a place in the north of Peru by the beach where I would look after a great house and great pets! And the ONLY offering in Peru was in the north, a block from the beach, at an animal shelter! Who makes this stuff up? And get this! I put this idea on my wish list, to look after people's great properties and their great pets and within 2 days there is a junk mail in my email about house sitters! Two days or so after that, the ad is on my facebook! The really crazy part? I wrote this in my journal, I didn't write it anywhere on the computer! All I can say is THANKS UNIVERSE!!!!! I am just thrilled to have organized the third Christmas for the kids at Remar Orphanage! This year due to generous donations, my friends and I were able to deliver a musical instrument, journal and pen, sketchpad, paints, markets, pencil crayons and or crayons (depending on age), coloured paper, scissors and glue! The gif was really ours, we got to see the smiles on those adorable faces! We hung of for an hour or two doing face painting and oragami with the kids! It was my great joy to get to volunteer at an animal sanctuary in Bolivia this spring! For 2 weeks I got to care for, walk, water, feed and clean up after this magnificent creature! A puma named Gato! He was very old and quite tame so I could scratch his ears and fuss on him all day! Yes he would try to bite me, but he didn't try very hard! I also got to work with the 50+ parrots, macaws and toucans for 2 weeks! They were a handful, Gato was a dream! I dream realized actually! Sadly Gato passed away this July but not without taking the heart of every volunteer who ever worked with him, with him! A great priviledge, my beautiful Gato, thank you for enriching my life. I hope I did the same for yours. Each Tuesday at the Healing House we offer a clinic for our neighbours to come for treatments and therapies they would normally never be able to afford. Its my pleasure and honour to help out at the clinic. I have had the chance to give Reiki to a young boy who is autistic and last week gave a massage and reflexology to a lady who has a brain injury and is partially paralyzed. It feels wonderful to make a small difference in these lives and the lives of the people who surround our House! Today I started working with a teenager who lives across the street. She cannot speak or move anymore and she can only communicate by her eyes and facial expressions. Right now I am working on gaining her trust and hope to be giving reflexology treatments soon - in hopes of making some positive difference in her life. |
